Photo-spam. Little Alice

This is my second commission of the year.

A little Alice type doll.
She has a cloth body and upper limbs
(no stuffing in the upper limbs or the doll won't pose)
 paperclay sculpted face and hands,
and sculpted shoes wrapped in soft leather.

Begin the photo-spam!

Now she'd all finished,
in her tea-stained lace dress
and blue ribbons.

In the winter garden.

Sunshine, at last!

Alice in the peach tree.

In the shade.

Alice between my very short daffodils.

They're very late this year (and don't tell them,
but they're probably getting snowed on again this week).

Alice. Lovely posture!

The suri alpaca hair.

Lots of silk ribbon!
It was much easier to work with
than I'd expected and I love how soft it is.

Striped stockings, obviously
and little glove leather mary-jane shoes.

This was the original design sketch.

I think the only things I added were
the ribbon roses on the shoulders.

I do have a ribbon rose fetish.

End of photo-spam!

Thank you for your patience.

    1. Thank you so much, Penny! The sketch can help a lot, or it can get abandoned in the excitement of creating. I'm sure you know how it is!

    1. Aww! Thank you so much. I don't think of it as talent. I think of it as "I can't afford the art dolls I want so I'll have to make my own!' I can't afford my own dolls :)

  4. Hi Rhissanna!
Long time i stopped by toy see your creations.
I Liked this Alice so much! and also the fact she is brunette. You really seem very inspired, dolls come out very beautiful, and clothes are so delicate with tiny details - including ribbon roses! Keep it up!

    1. I know, right? They've been really slow this year, usually I have plenty to pick by Valentine's Day. I need more, to photograph my rabbit dolls. Maybe I should put a heater out there? :) Take care in the snow!

    1. Thank you, Magaly! The peach tree does its best to look pretty (especially as I get bugger-all in the way of actual peaches). And I did OD on the ribbons and bows, I know. More is better, right?

    1. The snow is coming, apparently, so those tiny daffodils need to make the most of their hour in the sun. Thank you so much for the sweet and wonderful things you write, Anita, fellow rabbit lover!

  12. She is just stunning & love her plump lips, and long alpaca (I learn something new each day) dark shiny hair :) I got a book out from the library & looked at photos of who Alice was based on, it is interesting how she became blond via Disney studios when I think your precious ribboned & bowed Alice is more like Carroll's original... pleased to see her showing off her beautiful attire in the garden :) Just magic, you are so talented!!

    1. Thank you so much, Shelle! Yes, Alice Liddell had short dark hair and I' hope to make a doll like her some day. Carroll had a model for the original Alice illustration and she was blonde, but his own sketches shows a girl with long dark hair, which was why I was thrilled to get this commission!

    1. Hah! Thank you :) You know, when I got the commission, and the client sent a picture of a girl who had long dark hair with a fringe (bangs), I thought, hey, wait a minute! That's my hair!
