Commission #1 Dark Haired Alice

This is the first of this year's three commissions.

(I'm sorry about the photos
but it's been freezing rain all day
and the light's been crummy.
And it's cold.)

She is a brown-haired Alice
in a dress made of
vintage broderie anglaise lawn.

I'm still thinking about colours for the final trim
but something spring-like would be nice.

I'd like some Spring.

Anybody got any ideas about trimming
colours for the white dress?

Feel free!

  1. I knew she would turn out simply beautiful!!!!
Colours for the white dress... Well, if it were me, pastels.. pale pinks and blues?
    Have a great week!

    1. Thank you, Penny. I have to admit the choice seems to come down to exactly that. Pink (with green?) or blue (ditto) or thread a pale green ribbon through the bottom of her skirt, to look like a snow drop.

    2. Oh I think the pale green ribbon through the bottom of her skirt is a wonderful idea.. Pink and green, or pink and blue, either would be simply beautiful.
I am so happy you enjoyed my little Valentine mice. Thank you so much for your kind thoughts.
      fondly,

  5. Rhissanna! Good morning! I think the trim colors should be a rainbow of all pastels, to ring in a LONG AWAITED SPRING! PLEASE, bring it on! She is just gorgeous, and wouldn't you know that I would forget to put YOU on my list of Heartists.....there are so many lovely people out there that touch my senses with the work of their hands, and you are one of them. I'm putting you on my list now.

Gorgeous work and I love that she has dark hair...thank you! teeheheehee

    1. Goodness, Anita! Thank you so much for putting me on the list of Heartists. That's really very sweet of you. :)

As for spring, it's going to be so good when it gets here. We'll all be properly grateful. Last year, I was picking daffodils in early February. This year, not one green leaf has come up yet.

The customer asked especially for dark hair and I approve, too!

    1. *blushes* Thank you, Summer! As for the dress, the vintage fabric does all the work in making it look fancy. I hated to part with the piece. My hoard, my precious hoard!
