Dollmakers on Thursday. Return to Nevermore

And this would have gone out on Thursday
if it hadn't been for the interweb.

I had a LOVELY man come and fix it
who worked all afternoon,
 despite high temperatures,humidity
snakes and the fact that our phone line
is 6 thousand feet longer than it should be...

He is a true hero.

Back to the post.

I'm a huge fan of
by Georgina.

And now I have one!
I'm so thrilled!

So, I'm inviting you to share
the deboxing
(yes, it's a word!)
of Maud and Luscius.

Maud came all the way from England
securely wrapped and packed
in a box.

With a Nevermore Dolls sticker
and lot of padding to keep her comfy.

Georgina hand-made and printed
cards to accompany Maud
that tell her sweet little story.

I really love the photograph of Maud's sweet face
and the fancy embossed  cut-outs.

With Maud, came Luscius the Snail,
Maud's book, her treasures in a glass bottle
and pretty cushions to lounge on.

See the green speckles on Luscius' back?

Now, a teaser shot,
just to show you the lovely tag
tied to Maud's elbow.

And here she is, reclining on the bubble wrap.
Isn't she lovely?

What you can't tell from the photograph
is how lovely she feels
when I pick her up.

She made of resin
from Georgina's own moulds
and had a lovely smooth finish
and weight in the hand.

Here is her daydreamy face.

And here is the detail of her headdress.

Look at the seed beads sewn into the braid!

Maud really is a very lovely doll
and I'm very lucky to have her.

Georgina is a wonderful doll maker
who makes imaginative and
intriguing dolls.

To see new dolls see
Nevermore Dolls facebook.

I need to make Maud a sofa.
She's getting a little tired of living in the box.

  1. Maud is indeed a lovely doll. She looks so delicate. I enjoyed the
de-boxing with you. I'm sure will enjoy her for years to come.

    1. Thank you! She's a real treasure and I feel very lucky to have her.

  2. Welcome Maud ~ you are in good hands with your lovely new home !

    1. Thank you, Willow! Maud's such a lovely little thing. I'll take some more pix when I get her somewhere to perch.

  3. I am happy for you! It looks like you had a lot of fun, just like Christmas in September :)

    1. That's exactly what it was like! It's one of the nicest things about buying from another artist. Everything is always so beautifully wrapped and presented, it's like a gift.

  4. i must say..i covet Maud!!
such a marvelous doll...and i can't think of a better house for her than yours!!
she is obviously made with the same love and care that you put into yours !!

    1. Aww, thank you! Isn't she lovely? Go and have a look as Georgina's lovely dolls for yourself. They're beautifully made, and really lovely to handle.

  5. You made me laugh on your last line of the post! LOL! Yes, you better make Maud a sofa ;o) She is stunning! I love her face! Beautiful!! What a treasure ;o)
Happy you had such a great guy fix everything ;o)
    Hugs ;o)

    1. She does look a little disappointed, doesn't she? I have some doll chairs, but they're the wrong scale, so 'I'll have to make her something. She's a gorgeous doll, she feels lovely to pick up and play with and I'm delighted to have her.

And the man from the phone people was a true hero, worked through blazing sun and snakes brambles to find out why our internet was so cummy, and told us to call the big company and tell them they've been scamming money off us for months. So, I'm going to do that.

  6. She is gorgeous and deserves to be spoiled.

    1. You know, that's exactly how I feel about her. She's so special, she deserves to have her own little place to sit and be posed in. I'm very lucky to have her.

    1. I know, right? I've been a fan of Georgina's dolls for a while and owning one is a special privilege.

Thank you all for the wonderful and supportive things you say! I'm thrilled to read them and I reply to each one.
