May Monster Madness

 I went for Steampunk.

The late Victorians were big on
the insect theme

and it's only a small step to
steampunk and animate these little beauties
into creations of exotically beautiful horror.

Here is a selection.

Creatures crafted from
discarded parts.

My friend, Miss Magpie's Steampunk Observer.

Lego Steampunk Scuttler.

Watch-part Insects from

Creation of a clockwork insect.

One of my favourite films
has a spectacularly unpleasant
altered  flea.

See it here, with its trainer's forceps
adding a hypodermic needle.

The flea's view as it travels to its target.

And here, its mind-altering toxin takes effect.

Here is my own Surveillance Arthropod.

(Right now, it's under your couch,
taking notes in Morse code.)

And a how-to, if you want to make your own.

Thank you so much,
for sharing in
May Monster Madness!

If I haven't visited your blog yet,
I'm on my way.

  14. Hello, B
I just began reading a young adult fiction book, a trilogy titled 'The Cabinet of Wonders' by Marie Rutkoski. It has a talking mechanical spider in it for one thing. These steampunk creatures you have blogged about are right in tune with the theme of the book I am reading. So, it was very serendipity that I came to your blog to find some cool steampunk creatures!
How have you been, my dear?
Life has been soooo busy! I really need to get off the computer as I am taking care of my one and a half year old granddaughter for a few hours tomorrow. I need to get to bed!
    hugs,
    Teresa

Tomorrow is 'World Doll Day' the second Saturday in June, always. Didn't know it, and just found out, but I did a couple of quick posts about it. Your rabbit doll and Alice are one of my doll photos for the doll shoot'
Cheers! Come on over to my blog!

    1. Hi there, Teresa! That book sounds wonderful, especially for the talking mechanical spider! I've been very busy, making dolls and more dolls. It's been wonderful!

I only found out about World Doll Day last June! It's ought to be more widely known, and that's what the Internet does best. I'm rushing over to see photos of the dolls! So excited.

Have fun with your granddaughter and spoil her to bits!

    1. I think they really capture people's imagination, Rachel! I had a lot of fun making mine, and mine's just a clockwork toy and some paint and glue. There's pieces out there that are a real work of art..
