A Conversation With Kindle and Giveaway Oliver Action Figure!

You may remember
I was commissioned to
design a book cover.
is a darkly witty account
of a hit man's exploits
as he performs his
"recession-proof "profession.

is  now available to download
from Amazon.

Don't have a Kindle?

Don't need one.

and open up a
whole new world of  reading.

is an interview with a hit man.
It's funny, it's provoking
and Oliver himself is pleasantly
urbane and chillingly charming.

To celebrate the release
of this title,
I'm giving away an
Oliver Doll Action Figure.

Here he is
in Action Figure Mode.

Suit, tie,
black gloves,
trench coat.

Close-up of the trench coat.

Ready for action!

The red socks!
(Matches the red lining of his jacket!)

Here are the
WIP photos.

And no, he's not getting a face.

Getting fitted for
his authentic trench coat.

He'll be wearing his
trademark black tailored suit,
neat white shirt
and red silk tie.

I bought him a present!

Because, of course a
hit man has black leather gloves
and a beretta.

He'll arrive at your house
 neatly and discreetly packaged
(as Oliver is nothing, if not neat and discreet)
with some other goodies,
to surprise and delight.

    1. Oliver is small enough to hide in a handbag, and he's got a talent for not being seen. :)

    1. Thank you so much! I just need to put an extra slick of shine on his shoes. Highly polished shoes are much easier to keep clean/free of incriminating evidence.

  7. Rhissanna! I got a giggle when I logged into my blog to pull up your blog (which I ran across via Magaly's blog...), only to see your comment waiting for me. ^_^
Thank you for the encouraging words, I know that we will both find our balance of badass whimsicality. <3
Yours is evident in that fabulous Oliver doll, um, action figure that you're making. ^_~
There are few literary characters that fly straight to my heart (like a well-aimed bullet), but Oliver and the faux-Sophia were definitely two that did. I can't wait to hear more of Oliver's stories, and I also can't wait to see the finished doll!

    XOXO

    1. Thank you so much! It was really good to find someone who understood and put those things into words. Now I can embrace pink tulle AND skulls, without feeling conflicted.

B R Marsten has really scored with 'Oliver'. He does seem to have a lot of roguish, anti-hero appeal and I, like everyone else, really hopes there'll be more.

Thank you for thinking Oliver is fabulous. He's much too cool to say anything about that, but I'm sure he thanks you, too.

  8. I'm not sure if "Frickin Awesome" is an actual thing? But that's what I thought when I saw the new pics. Wow. Ok, kinda bummed I can't enter my own drawing now. =) He's fabulous in all the ways the word applies and a real prize for the winner of your giveaway. Um, suppose I wanted to actually commission my own Oliver doll... (Action figure, to quote The Duchess) does he cost the same as your other dolls?

    1. The short answer? $75

The long answer: I'm glad you think he's fabulous and Oliver is too, although 'fabulous' is a word with connotations and I'm pretty sure Oliver is straight. So, $75, and extra for the trench coat. (He'll get a tactical turtleneck next time. A tackleneck.)

  9. You are amazing girl!!!!
I can't get the book! I don't have a kindle, and I don't have an app. I don't even know what that is! LOL! Well, I do, but I have never used one.
    The story sounds fantastic!

    1. Ohh, Stacy! Let me hold your hand and guide you through the process! The app is just the Kindle programme, but running on a PC instead of an actual Kindle. Then you could get Magaly's books, too!

  10. But, I just got a Mac? Still the same thing? Yes, I want Magaly's books too ;o)
    I will e-mail you tomorrow? ;o) Or you can e-mail me? ;o)

    1. Heh! Thank you! The Amish make faceless dolls like this but I'm not sure Oliver is what they had in mind. And just for you, I've put up a photo of him, displaying his red socks.

  12. Yes, I LOVE the "Faceless Killer" style. Love the gun. Even the hair is right. I'm going to commission my own Oliver after this. The detail is amazing...

    1. The hair is right? Good! I was a little worried about it. I left a few locks loose, for those ladies who LOVE Oliver, and who'll want to smooth his messy hair. Like all anti-heros, he's not bad... Just misunderstood.

    2. Um, I think he might be bad...=p

  15. This must be such an amazing experience for you. I've downloaded the book and I'm looking forward to reading it. I like dark humour. Oliver, the action figure is just too cool. The little details in his clothing are incredible. Someone will be very, very lucky to win him.

  20. Lawd, he is magnificent! You are unbelievably clever, Rhissanna! I love the struck out word "doll", replaced by "action figure"! Haha.

I know he's Oliver, but he also makes me think of the Question from Justice League Unlimited, who also wears a trench coat and has no face!

    1. Ohh! You get all 100 Geek points for that reference! Well done! I was going to put up the reference but thought it was too obscure. The Oliver doll reminded me of the Terrible Trivium from The Phantom Tollbooth. Smart suit, no face. And thank you! The battle between Doll and Action Figure goes on.

    2. The fact that you already knew about the Question has made my day! I'm so used to people not getting my random references. :D And yes! The Terrible Trivium! Faceless men are popping up all over the place! ;)
