Pinny

Something new
I learned how to do!

This is a copy of Alice's
white pinny.
It's complete with pockets
and red trim!

Like this one!

The hands fit into the pockets!
Can you hear how
excited I am?

The red trim?
Buttonhole stitch on
my sewing machine.

I know, right?

    1. Isn't it, though? I'm now looking for more things I can pretty up with this stitch. My sewing machine is very basic, and it was wonderful to find those simple stitches could be put to a decorative use.

And thank you for your sweet comment about the apron. I was wondering if I should copy the cone-shaped pockets, but she wouldn't be able to get her hands in those.

    1. Thank you, Penny! I was delighted it turned out ok, I know that! I was expecting the fabric to pucker, as it's made from a vintage hanky and I'm just sewing through a single layer of very soft cotton. But it worked! It worked! Now I need to try it on something else. [Exits stage left, laughing maniacally]

    1. Thank you! I'm glad I made it before completing the dress, because it's an interesting problem fitting them so that the waistlines coincide and her collar-line shows.

    1. Thank you so much, Ann! With Alice, the more detail, the more Alice is there to see. Now I just need to hem her sleeves and finish her skirt and she's done

    1. What do you have in your pocketses? And the button hole stitch was such a revelation because it was sewn on an old, soft, fragile hanky. I was sure it was going to be chewed up but everything went smoothly. Now I'm looking for more stuff to embellish. Like your pocket?

    1. Thank you, oh Magical Love Crow! I'm really pleased with it, not least because I thought it would be a complete mess.(
my sewing maching likes to eat fine cotton.)
