Élodie finished and ready for her new home

I have some quick photos to post
so you can see Élodie all finished.

She's in a box and all ready to go to her new home.

Posing for the camera.

Oh! The fabulous silk ribbon embroidery?
I didn't do that.
It's a vintage piece I've had forever
and never found the right place to use it.

Flowers in the hair.

Bows and daisies.

Frilly, lacy sleeves.

Ribbons and ringlets.

Choker and roses.
(And sunburnt nose.
She's had a busy day,
our Princess Milkmaid.)

The printed skirt.

I had a lot of fun with Élodie.
I learned how to make sculpted toes on a cloth doll,
and painting skin tones on cloth
was easier than I expected.
I loved making and embellishing
her 18th century clothes.

But now she's done and sold
I need to make another.
Maybe with wild white hair?

Oh!

I have a commission!
A black cat in a red corset!

Ooooh!

Now shared on
What's it Wednesday

i love the small roses on her dress, and I didn't know that the neck ribbon was called a choker - good educational moment.

    1. Thank you so much! I have to admit, I have a bit of a fetish for ribbon roses and will sew them onto anything, so I'm glad you like them. The black ribbon choker seemes to have been a big fashion statement back then, I suppose because it contrasts with the frilly dresses.

I'm thrilled with the commission! Cats and corsets here I come!

    1. I know what you mean about the hair, Carol. Having tamed her locks with some mulberry paper flowers (love those things) I'll have to make another doll where I can let it all hang out.

    1. Thank you so much, Sherri. That's really sweet of you to say so! The silk ribbons are lovely. I have one more piece of that left and then, I guess, I'll have to learn how to do it for myself.

    1. Thank you, Mary Ann. The commission for the cat in a corset is from the lovely lady who bought my naughty Marie boudoir doll. Now that Elodie is done, I can crack on with that. I'm just waiting for some red lace.

    1. *Blushes furiously* Thank you so much! She was such fun to make. Once I had the idea of printing the skirt panel, everything else just went together. Isn't it lovely when that happens?

    1. Thank you so much, Karin! I must admit, I got lucky with the colours. I didn't expect to have a fabric that matched the printed panel, but when I dug around in my hoard, I had everything there. Like she was meant to be!

    1. Oh, thank you, MLC! It's going to be hard sending her away.

As for the naughty kitty, I know! Doesn't it sound fab? I've ordered some red lace, specially, and I think I'm going to give her thigh-high red stiletto boots, too!

    1. It's hard to part with them, yes. And a surprise. I'm always delighted when someone else likes one of my dolls, as I really didn't expect them to be received so well. The support I get on my blog, from people like you, is part of what's made it possible for me to sell my dolls.

As for Bessie, I get asked a lot if she's a pit bull. To be honest, I don't know. I think she's all mongrel, with a bit of collie and a lot of boxer. Either way, someone threw away a perfectly good dog; she was tossed out of a moving car into Hubby's parent's yard when she was about a year old and offered to me. She's the first dog I've ever had.
