Maid in Waiting

Shared on the wonderful
over at
Ivy and Elephants.

It's their 2nd Bloiversary!
.

My little
Milkmaid Princess
is making progress.
but she's still a maid-in-waiting.

Waiting for a body.

Waiting for some clay.

Waiting for some paint.

 Waiting for the glue.

Waiting for some drawers.

Waiting for a petticoat.

Still waiting for another petticoat.

Waiting for the dress.

She does have fingers, though.

And toes.

I did a rough
(very rough!)
design for what I want.
I have some green and rose chintz-y fabric,
and lots of pink ribbon roses.

Sewing tomorrow,
I can't wait!

    1. Thank you! I love the thought of her being a romantic heroine. The white hair is so lovely to work with I'm going to have to make another doll this way.

  2. Oh my, OH DEAR! Rhissanna, you are so gifted. Your dolls are extremely well-made ( I CAN TELL) and the expression on the face is one thing, but the position of her body - she actually looks as if she is say, "I'M WAITING HERE!"

LOVE this doll...you know that! Her hair, her looks....she is primo!

Thank you sweet friend for coming to visit. I will be back SHORTLY, as soon as this class starts for me and I see the work load. MUCH LOVE and many thanks for having engaged in the link party! LOVE! Anita

    1. Oh! Anita! Thank you so much for finding the time to come and visit and say such nice things. I know you're busy right now and on a little blog-free holiday, so it's really sweet of you to pop in.

I'm delighted you noticed how she poses! She's a lot of fun to photograph; she'll sit nicely with her hands in her lap and that slightly day-dreaming, distant expression.

    1. Oh, thank you, Mary Ann! I was going to go for just pink, but I found some nice fabric I got in a giveaway, so cool sea-foam green it is. That way the pink will stand out.

She has already got an awful lot of character and she is very poised and sweet.

    1. Thank you, Karin! Poised and sweet was exactly what I was hoping for, just how a little princes should be playing at Milkmaids.

    1. Oh, thank you so much! I'd painted the limbs of my rabbit dolls to match the head, but this is the first time I've painted the fabric of a human doll to match, so I really didn't know how it would look. Now I've done it, I'm really delighted with the results. Can't wait to finish her dress and start another doll the same way.

  9. PS: Did you know when you reply on this page to comments, they do not see them unless they come back to this page. I just say that because I can see you are taking time to leave such nice replies and I am afraid they won't be seen?! That "Reply" is confusing, it is meant for someone to add to a comment , but for the same reason, no one sees it!
